This was definitley a very wet week! But thank goodness Southern Califoria is getting some much needed water. I remember being out at Lake Mead last summer as a family and feeling so sad at the realization of how low the water level was at the Lake. They actually had to close a marina that we usually launch at, because of the water level. I'm looking forward to this summer in hopes that some of the rainfall this year has helped. With the thought of that, comes the thought of summer and then of course comes the thought....yikes!! Not sure I am quite ready to put on that bathing suit quite yet! As I have said a million times before, I honestly LOVE Pilates because of the health benefits it offers everybody. It's not just about getting that nice looking "physique" but it's also about teaching your body to stand and work more efficiently. But lets face it, I'm a girl....and there is some vanity involved also!
In the next couple of weeks, I will be adding a 45 minute teen class. During volleyball season at Trabuco Hills High School I had the true blessing of working with the Girls volleyball team. I LOVED working with these girls. They have such a fun energy. Working with them I learned though, that these girls do not have the strength in their core that they need. This leaves a lot of room for injury. I am attaching a great article that I just recently read on the benefits of Pilates for teens. If you have friends with teen age daughters, please feel free to pass this on. As soon as I nail down a day, I will let you know.

As always, thank you so much for allowing me to work with you. I have such a passion for Pilates and I love teaching it and working with you all.
Smiles ~

How are YOU doing?
Well here we are in Mid-January and most of us probably set out with the best of intentions ~ I will exericse daily, I will eat mindfully and I will not kill my teenager (whoops, that was mine)!! But sometimes even the best of intentions start to get lost in the pace of daily life. What we need to remember is taking care of ourselves (both physically and internally) will help us to increase our longevity. In addition the time in our bodies now, will be lived more productivley. We will be stronger, leaner and just feel better over all. If you find yourself getting off track, be kind to yourself. Just pick yourself back up and take babysteps. Remember the saying "Rome wasn't built in a day". You can't expect yourself to have the strongest core of the strongest back right away. It's "daily progress, not perfection"! With that being said, I am attaching a link to help you with daily pilates work. Take 5 minutes a day to work on your core. Then the next time you come to class you will find yourself getting a little bit stronger each week.
I LOVE working with each of you! I LOVE watching the progress you each make and the strides you are making! Remember ~ be kind to yourself.....one day at a time!!

It's a New Year!!
Well 2010 is here ~ I know I have been thoughtfully considering my resolutions for the year....I don't want to go into any of them "half-heartedly". One of my resolutions is to really fine tune my mat pilates classes so that my clients really see the results they are looking for. I'm being completley sincere here! Hey...I work out every day and I know at the end of it all I want to know that all my efforts weren't for nothing. My exercise isn't all in vanity though...my mind craves it. I know that when I have gotten my exercise in for the day I feel like a better mom, better daughter, better wife and better friend. I just love those happy endorphins that keep me going! I know how good exercise makes me feel, which is why I love teaching. I love seeing my friends and clients happy too!
Beginning this week I will have regular mat classes beginning on Wednesday evenings from 7 -8 p.m and Friday mornings from 9-10 a.m. In addition I am still teaching private reformer classes by appointment!
If you have never tried mat Pilates I promise you will love it. If you are interested ~ e-mail me at healthypilatesbody@gmail.com or call me at 949-230-1907!
I hope that this is the best 2010 for all of us!
